Johannes Schwarz - basson

A concert featuring bassoon and electronics, organized by the Center for Music Composition and Performance with the German bassoonist Johannes Schwarz - member of the Ensemble Modern, one of the most well-known contemporary music ensembles.

Works by the composers Liakakis, Wesselmann, Dragicevic, Eichmann, Neuwirth and Bedrossian will be performed.

Electronic sound or a return towards classical musical instruments?

Electronic music emerged during the 1950s and captured the interest of composers and listeners. In the following decades a large number of composers dedicated themselves to electronic music composition.
Electronic sound found a new application in it's combination with the natural sound of acoustic instruments and the live theatrical presence of the performing musician.
Today electronic sound has an assured steady position within contemporary music, with composers often making use of such resources in many different ways in their works, either developping new applications or taking advantage of the already established possibilities.

The program for this concert includes works for solo bassoon as well as works for bassoon and electronics, and in this manner reflects the mark of current music trends
