Duo Goliardi
The Greek duo was founded in 2003 by the recorder player Dimitris Kountouras and the accordionist Konstantinos Raptis. With this particular combination of instruments, without any precedent at all, the duo has a wide repertoire ranging from the music of Guillaume de Machaut up to contemporary music and from historical 16th century tarantelas to Bach‘s organ music.
The aim of the duo is on the one hand to express earlier music through a different sound perspective, always faithful to the musical text and spirit (obviously with different instrumentation) and on the other hand to provide new repertoire for that combination. The Duo Goliardi has collaborated with important composers of the younger generation and premiered many pieces especially written for it.
Until now the Duo appeared successfully in many concerts in Vienna, Hannover, Athens, Thessaloniki, Riga (7th International Bach Festival of Latvia) etc.

Dimitris Kountouras, recorder
Born in Greece, he studied recorder, baroque flute and early music performance practice at the Utrecht School of the Arts in the Netherlands (concert diploma 2001) and later at the Early Music Institute of the Music Academy of Milan with the “Marco Fodella” scholarship as well as the Conservatory of Vienna. Furthermore he studied medieval and renaissance music at the Early Music Institute of Trossingen and followed masterclasses with Daniel Bruggen and Sebastien Marq.
Among his teachers were Heiko ter Schegget, Wilbert Hazelzet, Kees Boeke and Daniele Bragetti. He has taught at the Aristoteles University and in seminars at the Conservatory of Lugano, at the Early Music Days of Vichtelebrg (Germany), at the “Music Village”in Greece as well as at the “Mozaic” project in Albania. He is preparing a doctorate dissertation researching the relations between humanism and music during the 16th and 17th centuries.

Konstantinos Raptis, concert accordion (bajan)
He was born in Greece where he studied accordion, musicology and music theory. With a scholarship of the Onassis Foundation he studied concert accordion (bajan) in Hannover with Elsbeth Moser graduating with a soloist diploma.
He has given concerts as soloist and with chamber music ensembles in many European countries. In 1998 he premiered with the Bundesjugendorchester the opera “Comedy without title” at the Biennale of Munich. He has collaborated with the orchestra of the Berlin opera Unter den Linden, the orchestra Academia Santa Cecilia of Rome, the Ensemble Modern, the Radio orchestras of Hamburg and Hannover, as well as the Camerata Athens. He has recorded for ECM (Eleni Karaindrou “Trilogy I: The weaping meadow”) and for ARKYS (Giorgos Kyriakakis “Oulaloum”, Duo Goliardi ”Polifonia in Due”).
Konstantinos Raptis is a member of Tangos a Cuatro, Ensemble Megaphon, Trio Gorrion and collaborates with distinguished greek composers such as T. Antoniou, E. Karaindrou, G. Kyriakakis.
He has earned awards in accordion competitions and is sharing his time between Hannover and Thessaloniki where he is teaching at the Makedonia University.
